Program History

The Region 7 EPP was established in the early 2000s to allow professionals from various careers to become teachers through a TEA-accredited alternative route to certification. Over the last 20 years, the Region 7 EPP has transitioned from fully face-to-face courses, to hybrid (both face-to-face and virtual training), to our current virtual program, which provides flexibility and convenience while preserving the high standards of quality we have always upheld.

Teacher candidates will learn how to contribute to public schools using a cohort module. You will collaborate and network with specialists and other candidates attending courses at similar times. Each candidate will also work one-on-one with a trained and experienced field supervisor to provide coaching, support, and resources through open and honest communication. Lastly, we offer training for your on-campus mentor assigned to support you throughout your internship.
