Types of Certificates Offered
Intern Certificate

Candidates must pass all TExES content exams required for their certification area AND have completed 150-clock hours of coursework, plus at least 50 hours of field-based experience.

Candidates must have FIVE (5) formal observations by the education preparation program.

It is valid for one year, and candidates are allowed only ONE (1) Intern Certificate for their lifetime.
Probationary Certificate
If the campus administrator and field supervisor recommend that a candidate with an Intern Certificate needs a second year of internship for more professional growth, the candidate must apply and pay for the probationary certificate.

Candidates must pass all TExES content exams required for their certification area AND the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) exam.

Candidates must have THREE (3) formal observations by the education preparation program.

It is valid for ONE (1) year with the option for ONE (1) additional year.
Standard Certificate

Candidates must pass all TExES content exams required for their certification area AND the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) exam AND have completed 250-clock hours of coursework, plus at least 50 hours of field-based experience.

Candidates must have FIVE (5) formal observations by the education preparation program.

It is valid for Five (5) years and must be renewed by the expiration date
